Today’s Race

Did my 50K today in 4:47, which was good for 6th place overall and 1st in age group. It was a very tough race and I came up short on my goals. I’m stuck between feeling very proud and disappointed for some reason. I’ll have a race report in a few days. That will give me time to assess the race and dig out all the positives I can.

Hope everyone had a great week.

I’ll leave you will the sunset I was lucky to see Saturday night…

I’m sorry your race didn’t go as well as you had hoped. I look forward to the review. Tough races happen. It helps us appreciate those that go better than planned 😉

I’m guessing you’re close to my age…and right now there are definitely a lot more “older” people…however, just following different blogs, websites, volunteering and just talking to runners, I think more and more younger people are trying them!

No doubt. The sport is getting bigger. I really think in the next 5-10 years there will be a big shift from half marathons and fulls to the 50K and 50 miles.

6th place overall and 1st in your age group is amazing! I’d bet you are still in the top 5% of the population of runners with that time. But, you want overall first. If you want it, you probably will get it. Great job!

Joey, I will say that your stats for this 50K are very inspirational! Proud of you! Great job! It’s your desire to improve-this is par for the course of achievers. However, I ask that you give yourself the full gift of enjoying your accomplishments. Soak in the beauty of that sunrise and see that you radiate with the light of a beautiful sun. Your possibilities are endless.

Great result Joey! Congratulations!!! Sounds like you have the fire to be first overall, but 1st in age group is great, and this is a process. Sounds like you’re becoming happier with your result which I think is spot on. Enjoy how you did, and strive for better next time, keep it up!!

I had my sights on a perfect race and temporarily forgetting the process. Which is the wrong way of thinking of things. I’ve made huge improvements recently and from this race last year, so I can’t forget that!
